On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Emilia was invited to give a talk at the Liceum Og\u00f3lnokszta\u0142c\u0105ce Si\u00f3str Nazaretanek w Warszawie<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meeting with the students was a great chance to reflect on her journey of becoming a scientist and to debunk the myth that everyone knows who they want to be when they grow up from an early age. Emilia was talking about the frustration of not knowing what path to choose and of the slow discovery of different types of laboratories. The excitement of lab work, the constant opportunity to learn new things and the need for out-of-the-box solutions, which are a bit in the theme of the famous 80′ TV show MacGyver.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Later, she explained how electronic tongues work and the group’s main projects. Ultimately, she showed what everyday work of a scientist looks like ( read, read, read, lab, analyze, read more, lab, analyze,write), and how to start your journey in science.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting finished with a short round of questions and a mini interview for the local students’ online radio.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
