Thanks to funding from NAWA/STER iWARSAW4PhD project for 2022-2024 during January Elżbieta visited Cecilia de Carvalho Castro e Silva’s lab in Mackenzie Institute for Research in Graphene and Nanotechnologies.
Elżbieta’s work was aimed at fabrication of electrode arrays using Mackgraphe clean room facilities. Mackgraphe is renowned for its multidisciplinary installation with emphasis on nanoelectronics, microelectronics and nanophotonics. It has infrastructure for the development, production and characterization of nanomaterials where its equipment and production line are in a clean room environment (Class 1000). In addition to operating in nano and microfabrication, it also supports strategic projects in several areas of the productive sector in research and technological development, product development and provision of services in the area.
During the time when she had to wait for reagents or equipament Ela also learned how to fabricate LIG electrode using a low cost laser printer. Using an appropriate laser setting, graphene morphology, and texture can be easily controlled without any additional step.
To continue on this topic we have purchased similar equipment at IChF and will now optimize the architecture of the electrodes towards their integration into cell culture vessels.
Elżbieta’s visit was the first scientific exchange between the labs and we hope the collaboration will start gaining momentum from now on.
