From 23 to 27 September 2024, for the fourth time, our department hosted 13 students from all over the world during the e-SPARK Summer School on Experimental Electrochemistry.
For the first time, we decided to offer compulsory courses (cell design and cyclic voltammetry) and elective courses. In addition to the courses from previous schools, we also included ones on:
- Molecularly imprinted polymers
- Solar Cells
- Spectroelectrochemistry
- Simulations
- Low cost paper based systems
- Three-phase junction
- Ion transfer voltammetry
As with the previous schools, this one began with a barbecue in the Institute grounds, where participants were given goody bags containing a lab coat and a script book, and had the opportunity to meet the organisers in a more informal setting.
Each day of the week, classes were held from 9-13 and 14-17 (sometimes 18), and students were divided into five groups, all of which had classes at the same time. After 5 days of training, the students should be able to prepare their electrochemical setups and perform basic electroanalytical experiments.
Thanks to all the students for a fantastic time and to all the organisers for keeping the spirits up throughout the week.
Let us hope that we can organise more e-SPARK editions in the coming years!
Now you can also virtually visit our classes thanks to the educational movies that you can find on our webpage and YT channel based on the electrochemistry demonstrations we teach (and some extra movies for topics which aren’t on the current scientific programme).
