Emilia was invited to participate in “Kobiety w Nauce wczoraj i dziś” conference, which was held on the 18th of October in the Pinokio Theater in Łódź.
Apart from scientific presentations, the conference included several discussion panels. One covered the impact of new technologies on how we can experience the world, including the possibilities of students with disabilities, with the fantastic story of Ms Joanna Czapla, and the use of VR, which revolutionized therapy and can make us more productive. Emilia had the chance to test the Ms Elżbieta Włodarska‘s VR technology, including the helping to focus games. It was inspiring to talk to Ms Włodarska, who went outside her comfort zone and found IT and hardware specialists to develop her dream therapeutic device. The technology is already used in several hospitals!
Another panel on the use of AI in medicine was held with the participation of Paulina Komorek from Sano Science. Sano is a science institute that focuses on shaping the future of healthcare using computational personalized medicine. The Cracow-based institute has multidisciplinary PhD, postdoc and visiting scientists programmes. It is undoubtedly worth checking.
Emilia’s favourite was the bio-tech-art panel, on which guests tackled the impact of creativity on scientific discoveries and technological innovations. An architect who studies the Well-being in space, a scientist who also plays and composes music, sometimes about her research, or an RNA biologist popularizing science through comics.
If we could only have more time for Art&science and popularization!
