After 8 months at Aarhus University’s Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Centre (iNANO) in Denmark, from October 2024, Steven is (this time officially) again a member of the Sensor Arrays group. During his postdoc with Prof. Elena Ferapontova, Steven was learning about aptamers. Prof. Ferapontova’s research centres on the electrical and electrocatalytic properties of nucleic acids and enzymes to create advanced biosensors and bioelectronic materials. She develops DNA-based nanotechnologies that leverage electron transport in nucleic acids for molecular bioelectronics and electrochemical sensors targeting cancer biomarkers, neurotransmitters, and environmental toxins.
With new abilities, Steven returned to the institute to better understand how different parameters of sensor preparation and measurement affect the response of aptamer-based biosensors.
Soon after coming back, he was also recognised with the best paper award, given every year by the Scientific Council of the institute, for his previous work with Wojtek Nogala. Congratulations and welcome back!
